With daytime temperatures in the 40's and nights in the 20's, some of the Willow Trails are deteriorating quickly. I see open water when I drive over the Parks Hwy bridge at Willow Creek.
So, today I went over to the West Gateway Trailhead. There were quite a few snowmachine trucks and trailers, so I figured the lakes are still good. I took Spirit and we walked a mile or so out towards Vera Lake. While the trail is a little icy, it is still usable. In fact, a team passed us as we walked.
Steve Charles of the Willow Trails Committee taking his dogs for a run today.
It was cloudy when I started walking, so it felt cool with a light breeze. Once the sun came out though, it was down right hot, even though it was only 40 degrees.
Get out while the getting is still good!
